SPAIN: Summer Program at the University of Madrid

Dates: July 1– July 15 or July 1 - July 29, 2006

Cost: Estimated cost is $2,040 for 6 semester hours ( 2 weeks); $3,350 for 9 hours (4 weeks).

Description:
Students can study language, culture and literature classes for 5 hours per day, M-F. Classes are taught in Spanish. Participants attend class with U.S. and other International Students. Classes will be taught by faculty from AASU and from the host institution, la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Students will lodge in a student residential dormitory that is arranged by the host country affiliates.

Minimum: 6 undergraduate semester hours (3 of these must come from SPAN 3520 Study Abroad)/ Maximum: varies with length of stay (up to 9 hours for 4 weeks).

Qualifications: Students must have a GPA in good standing, and be at least 17 years of age. There is no language requirement for students who take SPAN 1001 (Elementary Spanish I) during the program. There are prerequisites for students who plan on taking other Spanish levels during the course of the program.

Price Includes: The cost of 6 semester hours, round trip airfare from New York to Madrid, ground transportation between Barajas Airport and the University of Madrid, lodging in the dormitory, 3 meals per day, and some excursions (past excursions have been to sites such as the Museo Prado, Palacio Real, Museo la Reina Sofía). The price does not include AASU tuition which applies to summer term. Non residents of GA add $250 out-of-state fees. Does not include laundry, personal spending money, textbooks, transcripts/diploma, or optional trips to Toledo, Segovia, Sevilla, Barcelona, Pamplona.
